Call for Applications: Fulbright Slovak Scholar Program 2027/2028 for Educators and Researchers
The J. W. Fulbright Commission in Slovakia has opened a new application cycle for the Fulbright Slovak Scholar Program for the 2027/2028 academic year. This prestigious grant program is intended for university teachers, researchers, professionals, and artists interested in a 3- to 6-month research or lecturing stay in the USA.
The grant program enables Slovak experts and academics to conduct research or lecture at any accredited university or research institution in the United States. Applications can be submitted across all academic disciplines with the exception of clinical medicine.
The application deadline for the 2027/2028 academic year is October 15, 2026 (11:59 PM).
Who is the grant for?
- Citizens of the Slovak Republic.
- Applicants with a completed doctoral degree (PhD) or demonstrable professional experience in their respective field.
- Applicants with a clearly defined purpose for their stay in the USA (research or lecturing).
What does the grant cover? Successful applicants will receive comprehensive support, which includes:
- A monthly stipend to cover living expenses in the USA.
- Round-trip airfare and basic health coverage for the duration of the stay.
- A financial allowance for accompanying family members.
- Coverage of visa fees and complete administrative support for the stay provided by the Commission.
How to apply? Applications are submitted online. You can access the system repeatedly and save your progress via the direct online application. The following documents must be attached to the electronic application:
- Project Statement (approx. 5 pages).
- Letter of invitation from a U.S. institution.
- Three letters of recommendation.
- Structured Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Syllabi of planned courses (only if applying for a lecturing stay).
- Supplementary documents: Consent to personal data processing and a declaration regarding the use of AI tools.
