The Faculty of Arts TUKE and the Košice Architects Club cordially invite you to an extraordinary meeting with a leading figure of contemporary Hungarian architecture. As part of the , we will welcome architect , President of the Hungarian Academy of Arts (MMA).
The event will take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 5:00 PM in the atrium of the Faculty of Arts TUKE, Watsonova 4, Košice.
Attila Turi will share the fascinating story behind the creation of the Hungarian exhibition pavilion at the EXPO '92 World Exposition in Seville. This iconic structure, designed by the master Imre Makovecz, has earned a permanent place in the history of world architecture.
As one of Imre Makovecz's closest collaborators, Attila Turi was at the very heart of the project. Along with his colleagues (L. Csernyus and J. Siklósi), he was entrusted not only with the execution projects but also with the authorial and construction supervision directly on-site in Seville. He comes to Košice to provide a personal, behind-the-scenes look at the preparations, technical challenges, and the unique experience of working with the legendary Makovecz.
“Attila Turi was one of Makovecz's closest associates... Today we know that this building (the pavilion at EXPO '92) went down in history, and Makovecz stunned the world with his architecture. Without the work of Attila Turi and his team, it likely wouldn't have been possible,” says Prof. Peter Pásztor, PhD., highlighting the guest's significance.
The lecture serves as the closing event of the Košice Spring Days of Hungarian Architecture 2026 and is held under the auspices of the Consul General of Hungary in Košice, Dr. Ágota Hetey; the President of the MMA, Attila Turi; the Mayor of Košice, Jaroslav Polaček; and the Rector of TUKE, Prof. Peter Mésároš.
We look forward to seeing you there!
