Success of Our Student Adam Klobušník in the International Architectural Competition Buildner – Museum of Emotions
We are delighted to share the success of our student Adam Klobušník, who received an Honorable Mention in the international architectural competition Buildner – Museum of Emotions (7th edition) for the project Imprints of Metamorphosis.
The author describes the concept in the following words:
“In my proposal, I explore the nature of emotions. Emotions are not linear, nor can they be simply categorized as positive or negative. Their perception is cyclical—they intensify, dissolve, and often reappear in different forms. If we perceive black as negative and white as positive, we spend most of our lives in a kind of gradient grey zone between these poles. Extreme states are rare and exceptional.
I find several parallels between sponge-like material and human emotions. These parallels include the capacity for saturation, responsiveness to interaction, memory, and structural complexity. In my design, I express the properties of emotions through grey cubes made of sponge-like material at a human scale. I do not specify the number of cubes, the exact space they occupy, the surrounding conditions, or the duration of the visit. What matters is the process of interaction between the visitor and the cube. Visitors can express their current emotions through actions such as tearing, hitting, jumping on, or embracing the object. The space itself does not dictate how the visitor should feel; the emotion and meaning are created by the visitor.
Sponges, like people, absorb interactions with their surroundings. Some experiences hurt us, while others enrich us. Some are temporary and fade over time, while others remain with us permanently.”
