The Story of Typohorky
On March 2, 2026, the Faculty of Arts TUKE hosted the opening and premiere of the travelling exhibition “Příběh Typohorek” (The Story of Typohorky), initiated by Czech typographer, type designer, and educator Jan Charvát. The exhibition project, presenting the craft of type design, celebrates the 5th anniversary of the unique Typohorky type design workshop, which takes place each summer in the Krkonoše Mountains under the guidance of experienced figures from the Czech type design scene.
The exhibition also included a lecture by Jan Charvát, offering a more in-depth introduction to Typohorky, its structure, and its distinctive atmosphere. The exhibition programme was followed by the workshop “Type Roulette – How to Choose a Typeface”, organized for students of the Visual Communication Studio at the Department of Design, Faculty of Arts TUKE.
The exhibition was on view in the Atrium of the Faculty of Arts TUKE until March 3, 2026. It will subsequently travel to Bratislava, Ústí nad Labem, Plzeň, Brno, and Prague.
