TUKE in a European Art–Science Project

CategoryNews
Calendar10.08. 2026

From 13 to 17 July 2026, the Technical University of Košice hosted a working visit by Prof. Rocío García Robles from the University of Seville, coordinator of the ATLAS+S project. The discussions focused on the concept of the joint Art–Science and STEAM master’s programme, its implementation, mobility, the roles of individual partners, and the schedule of project activities. The programme at TUKE began with a meeting at the Faculty of Arts, led by its Dean, Assoc. Prof. Richard Kitta, ArtD., and his project team. This was followed by an official meeting with the university management, represented by Vice-Rector for Education Prof. Miroslav Kelemen and other TUKE representatives. The visit also included presentations of other university departments and development capacities, including UVP TECHNICOM, as well as meetings with representatives of the Ulysseus project and the TUKE International Office.

ATLAS+S is being developed under the leadership of the University of Seville and brings together four complementary academic environments: the University of Seville, Technical University of Košice, Kunstuniversität Linz, and Polytechnic Institute of Porto. The University of Seville and TUKE are also members of the Ulysseus European University Alliance, and ATLAS+S is being developed in this context as a satellite project of the alliance. The ATLAS+S – Advanced Technology, Learning, Art and Science for + with Society programme was successful in the Erasmus Mundus Design Measures call. Its aim is to create a joint European study programme based on the integration of SciArt and STEAM, a shared curriculum, international mobility, participatory learning, and both research and artistic practice. The proposed model envisages transdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, internships, and a research-based master’s thesis. The objective is to establish the foundations for a European Joint Master, with the prospect of further development towards an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master, while also strengthening TUKE’s long-term cooperation with European university, cultural, research, and technology partners.
